The December 1, 2011 merit scholarship consideration deadline for first-year applicants is almost here! Some of you may have already submitted your Common Application and USC Supplement, however, others of you may be putting the finishing touches on application pieces before submitting them. In any case, in order to be considered for the various merit scholarships we offer, your application needs to be submitted by December 1.

USC is well-known for its school pride and Trojan spirit, yet many students often ask me, “Does USC have any traditions?” My answer? There are TONS of traditions at USC! Many of these traditions can be seen at sporting events, while others take place on campus in the form of student organization competitions.

For most people late November marks the beginning of the holiday season and the end of another year. However for our office, the end of November marks the beginning of our reading season. This is the time of the year when my colleagues and I begin reading the applications that you all have been working so hard on over the last few months.

Even if you have visited campus in the past, you’ve never experienced it like this. This full day program is intended for you and your family to immerse yourself in everything USC and get all of your questions answered.

It can be very difficult to describe The Trojan Family because quite frankly there truly isn’t anything else like it. Essentially, The Trojan Family is the network of students, staff, faculty, alumni and their families. It is an incredibly diverse family but is united by our university, shared experiences, and core values.

By now, most of you should know that USC has adopted the Common Application as our exclusive means of applying to the University. In addition to the Common Application students interested in applying to USC will need to complete the <a href="https://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/apply/supplement.html" target="_blank"
USC Supplemental Application. The USC Supplement can be found on the Common Application website once you have selected USC as one of your schools. It will take some time to complete, so give yourself plenty of time to work on it.

After weeks of travel, our staff is finally heading back to campus after meeting with students, parents, and counselors all over the world. Despite wrapping up our recruitment travel, we will continue to host a handful of off-campus interview weekends in cities like New York, Chicago, and the Bay Area throughout November and December. Of course, students are also invited to visit campus during the upcoming Discover USC event on Sunday, November 20. There are still plenty of opportunities to take a tour, interact with current students, and see USC with your own eyes.
