Valentine’s Day is upon us, and what better what to celebrate than by sharing a love story that is near and dear to our hearts.
It was Fall of 1986, and our esteemed Director of Admission, Kirk Brennan, was just a mere freshman studying Cinema at USC. Kirk lived on the “Cinema Interest” floor of the dorm, mostly inhabited by other film guys and only a few girls (in those days, the School of Cinematic Arts had a male majority). One of those girls was Julie- or “Bubbles” as her friends affectionately called her because of her big, bubbly personality.

USC’s campus experienced a once-in-a-lifetime event last month when the space shuttle Endeavour flew over campus on the top of an airplane. I am happy to report that LA has evolved way beyond the typical “car culture” that everyone has heard of, and offers lots of options for those who have decided to leave their cars at home.

As a Los Angeles native, my favorite thing about this city is the diversity. Los Angeles is an ethnic and cultural hub that allows us to have access to wonderful art museums, musical venues, and my personal favorite, delicious food! I am known in the office for being a food aficionado and am constantly surprised by what Los Angeles and the local USC neighborhood has to offer in this regard.

I once had an applicant describe Los Angeles as a “magical place” where one can do just about anything that meets their interest. With a plethora of entertainment options, USC students never fall short of something to do in the city of LA.
