So it’s been a while since you’ve submitted your last college application. The stress and anxiety you felt from meeting deadlines, submitting test scores, following up on letters of recommendation, are all gone. You may have a few free weekends in the future where you can actually relax. But then again, there is still that one nagging question, the one that keeps you up at night: What colleges are going to accept me?

I know you are all either anxiously awaiting your admission decision or finishing up your application before the transfer deadline, but I would like to take some time to tell you about the financial aid process. Some students think they should wait until they receive their admission decision to apply for aid, but that is a huge mistake! You should be working on completing your financial aid application right now!

While the merit scholarship program, awarded by the Office of Undergraduate Admission, is the largest merit-based scholarship program offered at USC and does not require any separate application, there are some merit-based scholarships put on by various groups on campus that provide scholarships to hundreds of students every year.

In the midst of reading applications and recommending scholarships for the incoming freshman class, my colleagues and I are also receiving emails with questions from transfer applicants. Understandably so, because the deadline is coming up on February 1st. I would like to remind you that our final Transfer Day is on Friday, January 25th.
