STUDENT BLOG: New Blogger, Madisen Keavy

MadiIntroPostI’m Madisen and I am so excited to be joining the USC Admission Blog, where hopefully, you’ll come for a personal insight into what it’s like to be a Trojan! I’m a junior (where has the time gone?!) studying Broadcast and Digital Journalism, with a minor in Communication and the Entertainment Industry. Basically, I like to say I’m getting a degree in talking and in writing.

My hometown is Visalia, California. Many don’t realize between two metropolitan areas of this great state sits the Central Valley. Since starting USC, I’ve traded open fields for city skylines and I couldn’t be happier to feel more like a SoCal native every day! You could say I’ve gotten my sea legs over the past few semesters, as a Spring Admit there’s been no time wasted in getting involved on campus. Occasionally if you’re on campus around a TV you’ll see me on Trojan Vision in the mornings on a morning talk show. Sometimes in the evenings with Annenberg TV News you’ll see me in the midst of USC rallies or somewhere in Los Angeles interviewing the next big thing in art—it’s different every week. What doesn’t change is the energy that surrounds live television; it’s the ultimate example of “hands-on-learning”!

If we’re being honest, I’m most passionate about my job as a Tour Guide in the Admission Center. The college admissions process can be daunting and when prospective students, families and guests let me share in at least 90-minutes of that process while on a campus tour, it’s the most rewarding feeling in the world. I love sharing my own story, but more importantly, helping others, like you, find their own. While giving tours are great the majority of students won’t be on campus so I’m bringing what I know to the World Wide Web, right here, for you. So join me to get a personal look at my USC experience & along the way you’ll get a clearer look at what it means to be a Trojan!
