New Year’s Resolutions

We are excited to be back and have lots of ideas about things to share with you this spring in the USC Admission Blog. We want to continue to give you an “insider’s look” at our people, our process, and our university. There are over 35 admission staff members currently part of our review process and right now it feels like we are spending every waking moment reading your applications. But, we are also taking the time to think about the things we’d like to do or change in our own lives in the new year and want to share some of them with you. Maybe you’ll find some inspiration as you also work on your resolutions for 2012!

Winter Break

We just finished finals week at USC, the week that most students look forward to all semester long. Well, it’s more like the week after finals that students are really looking forward to! Our students, staff, and faculty take a well-deserved break to celebrate the holidays and get ready for the spring semester.

Throughout the last week, we received thousands of applications and materials for our December 1 merit scholarship deadline. Curious about how all these materials magically show up in the appropriate file for me to read on a computer, I decided to do some investigating into our processing office. The Busy Season

The December 1, 2011 merit scholarship consideration deadline for first-year applicants is almost here! Some of you may have already submitted your Common Application and USC Supplement, however, others of you may be putting the finishing touches on application pieces before submitting them. In any case, in order to be considered for the various merit scholarships we offer, your application needs to be submitted by December 1.

Traditions at USC

USC is well-known for its school pride and Trojan spirit, yet many students often ask me, “Does USC have any traditions?” My answer? There are TONS of traditions at USC! Many of these traditions can be seen at sporting events, while others take place on campus in the form of student organization competitions.

Only a few days left before we welcome thousands of students and families for the annual Discover USC program on Sunday, November 20! Even if you have visited campus in the past, you’ve never experienced it like this. This full day program is intended for you and your family to immerse yourself in everything USC and get all of your questions answered.
