STUDENT BLOG: New Blogger, Drew Schwendiman

Hey guys! My name is Andrew Schwendiman but please just call me Drew. Andrew is too formal and my parents only call me that when they’re mad at me (which is almost never…). Anyways, I was born in Chicago but raised in New Jersey. No, I never watched the Jersey Shore and I barely watched the Real Housewives of New Jersey, but please try to test me on pop culture. My family, though, moved to Hong Kong this summer, so I’m basically a nomad and have allegiances to all sorts of places now.

Enough with my past. Right now, I’m a freshman here at USC (obviously) studying Broadcast and Digital Journalism. I’m interested in entertainment and politics so we’ll see where that takes me. Hopefully to a paying job. I’m also a member of the Triathlon Team, a Thursday host of “The Morning Brew” on Trojan Vision, and a part-time nap-taker. Okay, full-time.

I’m excited to write for the USC Admissions Blog because I actually had a fun time applying to this school thanks to a great admissions counselor (Vivika Demel) and several other awesome admissions staff. I figured I would have a blast writing about college life, what I miss from home (diners), and even the overall admissions process. I’m also very candid and can’t take myself seriously so I might embarrass myself once or twice throughout the year. Hopefully you’ll laugh. Thanks for reading!
