Dear Admitted Transfer Students…

Transfer next steps

Many transfer students are beginning to hear from us with decisions.  If you haven’t already, don’t panic.  We will contact everyone by June 1st with either a request for spring grades or a decision.  Which basically means more waiting…sorry.  For those of you have already been admitted, or are wondering what the next steps will be if you are admitted, this blog’s for you.

  • In your letter of admission, you’ve probably noticed that it says you need to submit your Enrollment Commitment deposit by June 1st or within two weeks of receiving your admission letter. This means, if you receive the admission decision before June 1st, you have until June 1st to decide.  If you receive the letter after June 1st, you have two weeks to submit the deposit and form.
  • Fill out the FAFSA and the CSS profile ASAP, if not already completed. We do not want your ability to commit to USC to be held up by financial aid.  The earlier we have these documents, the faster we can get you the information.
  • Submit your housing application. Although housing is not guaranteed for transfer students, there is some availability.  The sooner you apply, the better the chances.  You can submit your housing application before the commitment deposit.  USC also has off-campus student housing, so don’t forget to check those options as well.
  • Register for Orientation 5-7 business days after your submit your commitment deposit. You will receive an email with the link.
  • Send all final official transcripts from your most recent term in college.
  • Get SUPER excited because you’re a Trojan!

Of course, we are always willing to help.  So if you need anything, please just give us a call!

Fight on!

  15. Ashley Aleksintser says:

Hello! I was admitted yesterday and also just sent in all of the necessary financial aid documents (fafsa, css, etc). How many days does it typically take to hear back about financial aid? because my ability to commit to USC depends on if I receive any sort of aid. Thank you!

  16. Shika says:

Hi there! So I was rejected as a high school applicant and a sophomore JC applicant due some issues at home affecting some poor choices I have made. Recently, I have been doing much better academically and racking up on some internships. I am just shy of completing my AA and wanted to know if possibly I should reapply as a junior transfer for my intended major! Thanks! My GPA is right around a 3.6-3.7.

    • Hillary Higgins says:

Hi Skika, You are welcome to re-apply as a junior transfer. You should submit your application again by the February 1st, 2017 deadline.

  23. K says:

Hello! I have submitted my application to transfer to USC from Chabot College and am currently still waiting to hear back. However, on my youSC account, i received a message that they need my “Transcript: Chabot College.” Does this mean i send one right now directly from Chabot, or they would like my transcript later on which includes my spring grades? I have already sent my transcript from Chabot twice already and am still receiving this message. Thank you for any help you can give me!

    • Hillary Higgins says:

Hello! You should contact your admission counselor directly. They can look in your application and see what we’ve received, and what we still need. You can find your admission counselor with their contact information here.

  24. J says:

Hi! USC requested my winter quarter grades in April, and I submitted them at the end of the month. My winter quarter grades were horrible because there were a lot of things going on, and it was hard for me to keep up with everything. My GPA dropped a lot as well. Is it going to hurt my admission? And will USC also request spring quarter grades from me? Thank you!

  25. Pam says:

My daughter is a USC fall 2017 accepted transfer going into sophomore year. She has accepted and applied for USC housing. When will she hear if one of her housing options is available? Thanks (and so excited, fight on!).
